New Ravenna is pleased to present the Pinnacle collection. The four designs in the collection were chosen from submissions to New Ravenna’s first Mosaic Design Competition in celebration of their 30th Anniversary. The mosaics are handcrafted in Virginia from stone, jewel glass, and brass. The designs represent two categories of submissions: Fine Art and Pattern. The two winners in the Fine Art category are You Shape the World Around You by Heather Green and Moon Jellies by Jacquelyn Bizzotto. The two winners in the Pattern category are Canna by Jessica Battista and Norris by Zachary Bowen. The winning designs have become part of New Ravenna’s catalogue of made-to-measure mosaic offerings and the designers will receive a commission on each mosaic produced. New Ravenna’s second Mosaic Design Competition will be announced on their social channels.

Cean Irminger, New Ravenna’s creative director, says of Pinnacle, “It was such a delight to hold New Ravenna’s first ever open design competition as a part of our 30th anniversary celebration. The breadth of imagination and talent shown by contestants was astounding. The ultimate winners were selected for the beauty of the original artwork and for the challenge of the piece’s mosaic realization. For fine art we were looking for unique, conceptual, non-repeating images that would showcase both the artist’s vision and a wide range of techniques to highlight the skill of the mosaicists interpreting it. For the pattern winners we selected repeating patterns that were more accessible while still being intricate and eye-catching.”

The stone in the Pinnacle collection has been honed, polished, and tumbled. Mosaic techniques include hand cutting and water-jet. All of the mosaics with the exception of Moon Jellies, can be installed on walls and floors, indoors and out. Moon Jellies, which is glass, can be installed on interior vertical surfaces.
